Serial Maven Studios Launches Distribution Division Before MIPCOM

EXCLUSIVE: Canada’s Serial Maven Studios has unveiled its new distribution division just in time for MIPCOM.

The division marks its debut with 300 hours of factual content, spearheaded by CEO Solange Attwood.

The initial offering includes twelve titles from renowned commissioners such as the BBC, Netflix, Smithsonian, E! Entertainment, PBS, CBC, NHK, and Discovery. Highlights feature one-off documentaries like Secrets of Egypt’s Valley of the Whales by Windfall Films and Rezolution Pictures, as well as Search and Rescue: North Shore from Peg Leg Films, and Cosmic Mysteries produced by Deep Field Productions. Also included is Gareth Malone’s Easter Passion by Somersault Studios.

Additional titles include Netflix’s nature documentary Tiger 24 from W Films, A Wild Irish Year and The Wild Gardener from Crossing the Line. Artifactual Media contributes with the ten-part series Locals Welcome and All it Takes. Rezolution Pictures presents So Surreal: Behind the Mask, while Riverbank Pictures introduces Trading Skills.

“With a diverse range of premium content and twelve brand new titles, our distribution division is built on quality, speed, and a solution-based approach for our platform partners,” said Attwood.

Serial Maven Studios, founded by former Blue Ant Media execs Attwood and Asha Daniere earlier this year, aims to function as a next-generation studio with a strong emphasis on intellectual property. The company focuses on developing, financing, producing, acquiring, and distributing content. Julie Chang, another former Blue Ant executive, joined the team as COO in May.

The launch of the distribution division coincides with the upcoming MIPCOM event next month, the first since MIPTV’s final edition in April. Buyers and sellers are keeping a close eye on how the market will evolve, with sources indicating that some larger distributors are contemplating their participation in Cannes.
