Meyers needed a moment to process this remark on his show “Late Night.” He humorously suggested, “Republicans are basically saying to Trump, ‘We still have a chance if we focus on the economy.’ And his response is, ‘What if we make it about looks? I go full thirst trap on social. Just flood the zone with different poses.’”

The Republican nominee has recently focused on his opponent’s appearance on multiple occasions, repeatedly citing the Democrat’s Time magazine cover portrait. Last week, he compared Harris to his wife, Melania Trump, saying the vice president looked like a “beautiful actress” on the Time cover and “didn’t look like Kamala.”

This focus on appearance comes as Republicans urge Trump to concentrate on policy issues, such as the economy. Meanwhile, Harris is gaining traction in the polls.
