Seven New Banksy Artworks Appear in London

Elusive artist Banksy has recently unveiled a series of animal-themed artworks across London. These latest creations began with a goat and culminated in a school of fish.

The first piece, featuring a goat, appeared on Monday. The mural shows a goat with rocks cascading below it on the side of a building in Kew Bridge, London. Interestingly, a CCTV camera on the building is pointed directly at the goat.

Banksy posted a picture of this mural on his Instagram account, continuing this trend for each subsequent animal piece, but without any captions.

On Tuesday, a new artwork featuring two elephant heads with outstretched trunks appeared in Chelsea, West London. The following day, Banksy unveiled a piece showing three monkeys on a bridge in Brick Lane, East London.

The fourth design depicted a howling wolf on a satellite dish, designed to resemble a full moon, in the Peckham district of London. Images surfaced showing individuals removing the artwork and running off with it. CBS News has contacted the Metropolitan Police for further information. According to BBC, the Metropolitan Police responded to reports of a “stolen satellite dish containing artwork.”

This isn’t the first time Banksy’s artwork has been stolen in London. Last year, police arrested a man suspected of stealing a Banksy piece depicting a stop sign and three military drones.

Subsequent works included a mural of pelicans eating fish on the front of a fish and chip shop in Walthamstow, North London. After that, a cat appeared on an old billboard in the Cricklewood area of London.

The billboard with the cat was removed just a few hours after its unveiling, according to BBC reports. Crowds reportedly booed as it was taken down.

On Sunday, the final piece in this series, a school of fish, appeared on a City of London police box in Ludgate Hill. Photos show the area being cordoned off.

The City of London Police informed BBC that it was aware of “criminal damage” to the police box and was in communication with the City of London Corporation, which owns the box.

CBS News has reached out to the City of London to find out if there are any efforts being made to preserve Banksy’s latest works.
