Severance Season 2 Premiere Date and Trailer Released

More than two years after its cliffhanger Season 1 finale, Apple TV+ and the employees at Lumon are getting back to work.

On Wednesday, the streaming service announced “Severance” will make its long-awaited return on January 17, 2025. The date announcement was accompanied by a brief teaser that ended with an ominous warning for Mark (Adam Scott) and Helly (Britt Lower) uttered by a new character, played by Gwendoline Christie: “You should’ve never left.”

Here’s the Apple synopsis for the show:

In “Severance,” Mark Scout (Adam Scott) leads a team at Lumon Industries, whose employees have undergone a severance procedure that surgically divides their memories between their work and personal lives. This daring experiment in “work-life balance” is called into question as Mark finds himself at the center of an unraveling mystery that will force him to confront the true nature of his work… and of himself. In Season 2, Mark and his friends learn the dire consequences of trifling with the severance barrier, leading them further down a path of woe.

Season 1 of “Severance” debuted in February 2022 and slowly built its following online – a fan base that anecdotally grew following its shocking Season 1 finale, when more about its vast conspiracy was revealed. The show was eventually nominated for 14 Emmy Awards, including Best Drama Series, Best Drama Actor for Scott, Best Drama Supporting Actor for John Turturro and Christopher Walken, and Best Drama Supporting Actress for Patricia Arquette. All of those actors return for Season 2, alongside Lower, Tramell Tillman, Zach Cherry, Jen Tullock, Michael Chernus, and Dichen Lachman. New cast members include Season 2 series regular Sarah Bock, Christie, Bob Balaban, and Merrit Weaver.

“Severance” is created, written, and executive produced by Dan Erickson, and executive produced and directed by Ben Stiller. Stiller directed five of the 10 Season 2 episodes, with filmmakers Uta Briesewitz, Sam Donovan, and Jessica Lee Gagné handling the other episodes, per Apple. Additional Season 2 executive producers include John Lesher, Jackie Cohn, Mark Friedman, Beau Willimon, Jordan Tappis, Donovan, Caroline Baron, Richard Schwartz, and Nicholas Weinstock.

“Severance” will premiere weekly episodes on Apple TV+ every Friday through March 21, 2025.
