Severance Season 2 Unveils Teaser Trailer & Premiere Date

Apple TV+ has unveiled the first teaser trailer for the eagerly awaited second season of “Severance.” The series, created by Ben Stiller, has been his primary focus for the past few years, with only occasional breaks, such as some voice work on “Krapopolis.” Adam Scott stars in the lead role. Since August of 2022, Scott and Stiller have been teasing fans about the upcoming season, so the excitement surrounding its return is palpable. The series had been in production last year but faced a hiatus during the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. With the latest announcement, it is confirmed that “Severance” will return on January 17.

“Severance” is one of Apple TV+’s most critically acclaimed series, standing alongside other fan favorites like “Ted Lasso” and “For All Mankind.” The newly released trailer provides a glimpse into what promises to be another thrilling chapter of the dystopian drama.

“We are thrilled and delighted to be back on set for the exciting second chapter of ‘Severance,'” Stiller said back in April. “Though we don’t know how long we’ve been gone or who we are outside, we are told people enjoy the show, and we couldn’t be happier. Praise Kier!”

The series is a sharp critique of corporate power and serves as a satire on corporate secrecy and non-disclosure agreements. It takes the intrusion of work life into personal life to an extreme, asking viewers to consider what happens when a company can control employees’ minds. Why bother with the usual worries of being sued or dealing with work-related calls at all hours when more profound concerns like what the company might do to your brain if you quit, retire, or try to unionize are at stake?

“Severance” follows Mark (played by Scott), who leads a team of office workers whose memories are surgically divided between their work and personal lives. The plot takes a twist when a mysterious colleague appears outside of work, prompting a journey to uncover the truth about their jobs.

The show brings back Emmy and DGA Award winner Ben Stiller with Academy Award and Emmy Award winner Patricia Arquette (“Escape at Dannemora,” “Boyhood”). The cast includes Adam Scott (“Parks and Recreation,” “Step Brothers”), Emmy Award winner John Turturro (“The Plot Against America,” “The Night Of”), Britt Lower (“High Maintenance,” “Casual”), Zach Cherry (“You,” “Succession”), Dichen Lachman (“Jurassic World: Dominion,” “Altered Carbon”), Jen Tullock (“Before You Know It,” “Bless This Mess”), Tramell Tillman (“Hunters,” “Dietland”), Michael Chernus (“Orange Is the New Black,” “Patriot”), and Academy Award winner Christopher Walken.

The first season of “Severance” is currently streaming on Apple TV+. Fans can look forward to the second season premiering on January 17.
