Sexyy Red Shares the Story of Recording ‘Get It Sexyy’ Through Pos

Sexyy Red recently unveiled the emotional backstory behind her hit single “Get It Sexyy,” sharing her journey of recording the track amid postpartum depression. She also revealed the origin of the unique moans featured in the song.

On Wednesday (Aug. 14), Sexyy Red took to Instagram to celebrate the success of “Get It Sexyy” and divulged how the track came together. “The night ‘Get It Sexyy’ was made I was going through a lot. I had just had my baby, felt depressed, and was experiencing postpartum,” she explained in the caption of a carousel of photos and videos. “My team in Miami would leave me in the studio to write songs, and I would just be in there crying, thinking about life… I finally said, ‘Send me back to St. Louis so I can be around the ones I love and get back to me!'”

The decision to move back to St. Louis turned out to be a positive one. “Boom, I’m in St. Louis. I invite all my sisters and friends to my studio session. We had blunts, bottles, food and all that, and I came out with ‘GET IT SEXYY GET IT SEXYY,'” she continued. “It really was a confidence booster for me. We were so turnt, all my sadness was gone. I love my family, period. PS… I was moaning in the song because my boyfriend was behind me humping me while I was recording.”

In her Instagram post, Sexyy Red also shared video footage from the studio session in St. Louis, showing her enjoying the moment with her friends as they vibed to the song.

Released back in March, “Get It Sexyy” has since become Sexyy Red’s biggest solo hit. Produced by Tay Keith and Jake Fridkis, the track peaked at No. 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. On Tuesday (Aug. 13), the song received gold certification from the RIAA, marking a significant milestone in her career.
