Shaboozey Sues Record Company Over Contract Breach

Shaboozey isn’t just enjoying the high life these days; he’s also taking legal action. The singer-songwriter is suing his former record company, Kreshendo Entertainment, to regain his songwriting rights.

The lawsuit claims Kreshendo is preventing Shaboozey from reclaiming his publishing rights despite a contractual provision meant to facilitate this very process. In 2019, Shaboozey terminated his publishing agreement with Kreshendo, a relationship that had been in place since 2016. He then personally took over the company’s position in a deal with Warner-Tamerlane, a music publisher.

According to Shaboozey, a specific clause in the contract allows him to regain control of his publishing rights by paying off 110% of the unrecouped balance of prior advances to Warner. This has become particularly important since the success of his hit “A Bar Song (Tipsy).”

Shaboozey asserts that he has requested Warner-Tamerlane to inform him of the amount he owes to settle the deal officially. However, he claims Warner-Tamerlane has refused to provide this information. He suspects that Kreshendo has instructed Warner-Tamerlane not to disclose the details, thereby prolonging his involvement in the deal.

Furthermore, Shaboozey is suing Kreshendo for allegedly releasing several songs without his consent after his termination of the contract in 2019.

Attempts to reach out to Kreshendo and Warner-Tamerlane for comments have so far been unsuccessful.
