After a decade-long battle with breast cancer, Shannen Doherty passed away on July 13. Her death, while not entirely unexpected, left a void in the hearts of many fans and loved ones. In a poignant episode of her Let’s Be Clear podcast, Shannen shared her wishes for her funeral, including a specific list of people she did not want to attend.

Shannen expressed her desire for a small, intimate gathering free from individuals who might pretend to mourn her while secretly feeling relieved. She wanted the event to be a “love fest,” filled with genuine emotions and devoid of any public displays of hypocrisy.

Among those Shannen did not want at her funeral were former co-stars Jennie Garth from Beverly Hills, 90210, and Alyssa Milano from Charmed. The conflicts between Shannen and these actresses were well-documented. She and Jennie had a confrontation over a prank, while she and Alyssa clashed due to differing personalities.

Shannen made it clear that by excluding them, she intended to relieve these individuals from the social obligation of attending her funeral. She emphasized that the measure was to ensure that those present were there out of genuine affection and respect.

Beyond these emotional preparations, Shannen also took practical steps in the lead-up to her passing. She gave away many of her cherished possessions, including her antique furniture, realizing that material items were unnecessary for the journey ahead. She believed that shedding these belongings helped ease her transition to what she referred to as the “great beyond.”

In recent years, Shannen focused on deepening her relationships with friends and family. She cherished making new memories with her loved ones and ensured that her mother, Rosa Elizabeth Doherty, was taken care of. This prioritization of personal connections over material wealth underscored her clear-sighted approach to life and death.
