Shannen Doherty Finalized Divorce Just Hours Before Passing Away

Before her passing, Shannen Doherty, known for her roles in Charmed and Beverly Hills, 90210, made significant efforts to ensure she left the world without stress. Battling breast cancer once again after a two-year remission and amid a contentious divorce, Doherty took steps to settle her affairs. Just weeks before her death, she petitioned the court for spousal support to cover her medical expenses and other costs, citing she hadn’t worked since her cancer’s return and her income from streaming platforms was diminishing. Fortunately, she managed to finalize her divorce before she died.

The Associated Press reported that Doherty, just hours before her death at 53, finalized her split from her husband, Kurt Iswarienko. In a rare judicial move, she was granted the official divorce two days posthumously, ensuring her wishes were fulfilled so her mother would be well cared for.

Laura Wasser, a renowned divorce attorney representing high-profile clients like Kim Kardashian and Britney Spears, handled Doherty’s case. According to the ruling, Doherty was awarded the couple’s Malibu, California home, a Salvador Dali painting, several cars, and all her acting earnings. Since the actress had no children, it is likely that her assets will be inherited by her mother.

Doherty and Iswarienko, a photographer, married in 2011 and separated in 2023. Iswarienko was her third husband and their marriage was her longest.

Doherty’s death was confirmed by her long-time publicist, Leslie Sloane. In a statement to TV Line, Sloane expressed her sorrow, “It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of actress Shannen Doherty. On Saturday, July 13, she lost her battle with cancer after many years of fighting the disease. The devoted daughter, sister, aunt, and friend was surrounded by her loved ones as well as her dog, Bowie. The family asks for their privacy at this time so they can grieve in peace.”
