Shannen Doherty Praised Alyssa Milano Before Death Despite Long Feud

Shannen Doherty praised her ‘Charmed’ co-star Alyssa Milano for her performance on the show before she passed away from cancer.

Before her passing, the actress, known for her role as Prue Halliwell in the popular series, recorded an episode of “The House of Halliwell” podcast with fellow co-star Holly Marie Combs, who portrayed Piper Halliwell.

In the episode released recently, Doherty reminisced about actress Lori Rom, who had originally filmed an unaired pilot as Phoebe Halliwell before Alyssa Milano took over the role.

During the podcast, Doherty explained that Lori Rom and Alyssa Milano were “very, very, very different people,” noting that Rom’s performance was much closer to her own and Combs’ style, being more grounded in drama and presenting a much more serious and darker tone.

Nevertheless, Doherty acknowledged that when Alyssa joined, she brought a needed levity to the show. She praised Milano for doing a great job and adding a fresh, slightly different flavor to “Charmed.”

The heartfelt words come several months after Combs mentioned on Doherty’s “Let’s Be Clear” podcast that Milano allegedly had a hand in getting Doherty fired from the series. According to Combs, Milano had told producers it was either her or Shannen, alleging a hostile work environment.

When Doherty exited “Charmed” after Season 3, Rose McGowan joined the cast as the Halliwell sisters’ half-sister, Paige Matthews.

Following Doherty’s death on July 13 at age 53, Milano expressed her condolences, acknowledging their complicated relationship. Speaking to Page Six, Milano said, “At its core was someone I deeply respected and was in awe of. She was a talented actress, beloved by many, and the world is less without her.”

Doherty’s passing marks the end of a years-long battle with cancer, leaving behind a legacy cherished by her fans and co-stars alike.
