Sid Wilson, the turntablist for the renowned heavy metal band Slipknot, suffered severe burns after an accident on Friday.
“My face is burnt and my cheeks,” the 47-year-old musician shared during an Instagram Live session from his hospital bed. “I had an explosion in my face.”
Despite the severity of his injuries, Wilson assured his followers, “I’m OK. I’m going to be OK, but I did have some serious burns in my face and my arms.”
Wilson showed fans the extent of his injuries, including singed eyebrows, a blister on his mouth, and multiple burn marks on his face and arms.
Doctors conducted X-rays on his chest to ensure there was no internal damage, confirming that he didn’t inhale any flames. Nevertheless, the trauma was evident as he was visibly shaking while holding his phone.
In a separate video posted on Instagram, Wilson elaborated on the incident, stating he was “out working on the farm” he shares with his girlfriend Kelly Osbourne in Iowa. He was attempting to stoke a bonfire when it exploded.
Osbourne, who accompanied Wilson to the hospital, issued a stern warning on her Instagram Stories, “This is why you don’t f–k with burn piles.”
Osbourne, holding their 1-year-old son Sidney on her lap, stated, “He literally set himself on fire; exploded everything. Ugh.”
She then shared another Instagram Story showing their baby boy playing with toys inside the hospital room as Wilson lay in bed recovering. She placed a “I Have No Words” GIF over the video, expressing her exasperation.
Wilson reassured his fans, stating he was “going to be alright” and promising that he would do “what it takes” to return to touring.
Later on Friday, he updated that he was being transferred to another facility better equipped to treat his burns. He concluded, “I’m going to be ok everyone. Love you all.”
