Sierra Ferrell’s Stunning Cover of Little Feat’s “Willin'” – Watch Now!

Sierra Ferrell does not miss. The queen of Appalachia has done it again, covering a classic song with her unique flair. Sierra Ferrell has continually proven her versatility by singing a wide range of genres, from The Beatles to Sam Cooke. Her vocal range knows no bounds.

At a recent show, Ferrell introduced a new cover, an all-time classic, “Willin’.” This song was written by Lowell George when he was part of the Frank Zappa-fronted band Mothers of Invention. George didn’t record the song until he left the band and formed Little Feat. It was first released on their self-titled debut album, and later re-recorded for the group’s second album, “Sailin’ Shoes.” This re-recorded version of “Willin'” turned out to be more successful than its first iteration.

Though “Willin'” was never officially released as a single, it has become the most well-known song from Little Feat. Sierra Ferrell brought a bluegrass twist to the classic track during her performance in Santa Fe, New Mexico. With three players in her band, they gathered around a microphone and shared the lyrics with the crowd.

“We are going to try and do this one. This is something I’ve been listening to a lot recently, and we thought that we’d try to do it. So, if you know it, sing along with us. Join us for the harmonies,” Ferrell said, introducing the song.

Despite the cover feeling impromptu, it was stellar, showing off Ferrell’s natural talent and her band’s harmonies. The crowd quickly recognized the song as she sang the opening lines:

“And I’ve been from Tucson to Tucumcari
Tehachapi to Tonopah
