Simone Biles’ Birth Mom Shares Dire Living Conditions During Olympian’s Fame

Before Simone Biles left Paris after her highly successful stint in the 2024 Olympics, the 27-year-old made sure to get herself a bit of a keepsake from the French capital. This came in the form of a Hermes luxury bag, which, depending on the size, could fetch a price tag in the six digits.

At this point, there’s no denying that Biles is living an affluent life. At the same time, though, you can’t really say that the most decorated American gymnast in Olympic history doesn’t deserve it.

Simone’s lifestyle, however, is in stark contrast to that of her biological mother, Shannon Biles, who, according to an article by Chris White of Daily Mail, “is still living in poverty.”

Simone and her three siblings have been estranged from her birth mom after Shannon was left with no choice but to leave them in foster care when Simone was just three years old.

Shannon has a history of drug and alcohol abuse, which is the reason why she had to give up her four children. Simone and her younger sister, Adria, were eventually adopted by Shannon’s father, Ronald Biles, and his wife, Nellie.

Shannon, 52, reportedly filed for bankruptcy in 2018. At that time, she “didn’t have a dollar to her name and just $34 on a prepaid card.”

While Shannon has already recovered after hitting rock bottom six years ago—at least somewhat—she’s still struggling financially. At this point, she’s very open to receiving some help from her daughter, which, apparently, is something that has not been offered by Simone.

“Of course I would accept her help,” Shannon said. “She hasn’t [offered] it so far. I’m here. I’m okay.”

Shannon did make it clear that this is far from a mere money grab. She’s asking for her daughter’s forgiveness after everything she’s put her through as she looks toward a fruitful reconciliation.

At this point, however, it appears that Simone isn’t prepared for a happy ending just yet. Can you really blame her?
