Simone Biles Defends Husband Jonathan Owens After Medals Criticism

Simone Biles is standing up for her husband, NFL safety Jonathan Owens, who has been a constant supporter during the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Owens has shown his support from the stands as Biles led Team USA to a gymnastics team gold medal and clinched her second gold in the individual all-around competition.

After Biles secured her gold medal in Paris, Owens took to social media to congratulate her. He posted a picture with Biles, displaying her gold medal with pride.

In his message, Owens wrote, “Witnessing history every time you step on the mat 😍🔥 Congrats baby on becoming the most decorated American gymnast in Olympic history!!!! Just wow!!!! 8 of them!!!!! So thankful I was there to see it ❤️🤍💙”

However, the supportive gesture by Owens was met with criticism on social media. Some “fans” attacked him for wearing the medal, swamping the comment section with remarks like, “why are you wearing it?” and “I’m annoyed that he’s holding it like [be for f*cking real] it’s not YOURS.”

One user even wrote, “Mr. Simone Biles, if you don’t give that woman back her medal.”

The backlash intensified when a TikToker made a video criticizing Owens for wearing Biles’ medal. Simone Biles responded to defend her husband, explaining that she had placed the medal on all her family members for photos.

Biles wrote, “Crazy thing is, I put my medal on every single one of my family members and took pictures. So don’t ever make assumptions.” She added, “Like y’all are so f–ing miserable. Leave us alone.”

With her point made clear, Biles will now focus on the upcoming individual events, set to start on Saturday, August 3.

The events will be broadcast live on the NBA family of networks, with streaming options available on Peacock.
