Singer Richard Marx Overlooks Prince Harry at Kevin Costner’s Charity Event

Richard Marx recently found himself in an awkward encounter with the Duke of Sussex during a charity event. The singer, known for his hit “Don’t Mean Nothing,” was performing at the One805!Live concert, which took place on a Friday and was hosted by Kevin Costner.

As Marx was wrapping up his performance and exiting the stage, he nearly walked past Prince Harry without realizing it. Fortunately, someone in the crowd called out to him, making the introduction possible. Marx’s wife, Daisy Fuentes, shared a clip of the moment on her Instagram story.

In the video, a voice can be heard saying, “Richard? Prince Harry,” as the two men meet. They then shook hands, with Harry complimenting Marx, saying, “Hey! Well done,” before the clip comes to an end. Fuentes also posted a couple of photos showing Marx engaged in conversation with the Duke.

Interestingly, Meghan Markle, Harry’s wife, typically attends this event with him but was reportedly unwell and could not make it this time, as stated by The Mirror.

The One805!Live concert is an annual event aimed at honoring first responders in the Santa Barbara area, with proceeds going to various organizations, including local firefighters and police. This year, the event took place at Costner’s picturesque oceanside estate in Santa Barbara, California. Other celebrity attendees included Rob Lowe, Jeff Bridges, and Pink.

During the event, Prince Harry presented an award to Loren Courtney, a local pilot. While chatting with Courtney, Harry made light of the extensive time and commitment it takes to build a career in aviation.

“As you’ve probably heard already, 22 years of military service over 10,000 hours and rarely sees his family because he’s always here flying helicopters,” Harry remarked, referring to Courtney’s dedication. “Why do you still do what you do?”

In response, Courtney expressed his passion for his work: “I do this because I love doing it and I love doing it for the county of Santa Barbara. It’s a rewarding experience whenever we go out, whether it’s putting out fires, rescuing someone in the backcountry, doing medical evacuations from vehicle accidents, or patrolling the area to keep citizens safe.”

He shared a moving incident about rescuing skiers in Colorado who had fallen off a 30-foot embankment. “I learned in the military that you never leave anybody behind. We got him out. He spent almost a year in intensive care and then rehab, and now he’s walking. He even got married and proposed to his girlfriend on top of the Grand Tetons after the accident,” he recalled.

To lighten the mood, Harry jokingly asked, “You didn’t have to rescue him again, did you?” He went on to commend the pilot, noting, “You are one of the many heroes here tonight. There are people here tonight who are alive because of you and who are back with their families because of you… from everybody here, thank you so much.”

Additionally, Prince Harry awarded musician Kenny Loggins the Heart of the Community Award during the event.

Notably, Prince Harry recently celebrated his 40th birthday on September 15, with the Prince and Princess of Wales publicly wishing him well via social media.
