Sinitta says her relationship with ex Simon Cowell is now ‘like siblings’

Simon Cowell’s ex-partner Sinitta recently revealed that their relationship now feels more like a sibling bond. The couple, who began dating in 1983, had known each other since their teenage years through family connections. They maintained an on-again, off-again relationship until 2014 when Cowell welcomed a son with his current fiancée, Lauren Silverman, who was pregnant and still married at the time.

Despite their romantic separation, Cowell and Sinitta have remained close friends. The “So Macho” singer shared with The Times that they even spend holidays together, including Christmas. “We may be exes, but we’re more like siblings and are godparents to each other’s children,” she disclosed. Sinitta also mentioned, “Simon and I often spend Christmas in Barbados with our families, either on the yacht or at One Sandy Lane, private villas owned by our good friend Maureen.” She added that Simon enjoys playing Santa, arriving on a jet ski and pampering the kids.

In a previous interview with The Mirror’s New! magazine, Sinitta discussed how their relationship ultimately concluded. “There was always an element of ‘Well, it’s never really over,’ but when Eric [Cowell’s first son] was born, that was it. I would never come between his family,” she explained.

Earlier this year, Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh, former colleagues of Cowell on X Factor, criticized him and mentioned Sinitta during a gossip session on Celebrity Big Brother. Sharon suggested that Cowell “doesn’t know how to keep friends,” and brought up Sinitta’s loyalty. Louis chimed in, “I like her, she’s mad but she’s very loyal to him,” to which Sharon added, “Oh, dedicated her life to him.” Louis further commented, “I like her, if you know what I mean. There’s something. Harmless.”

Sinitta later confronted Walsh with some “home truths,” accusing him of being “hilarious” but “not nice.” Walsh was puzzled by this interaction, reflecting afterward, “Why did they send Sinitta? It was so random but so funny. You don’t know how crazy she is, but she’s really nice.” He added, “But I haven’t seen her for years. But… she was probably available.”

Sinitta responded to Walsh’s comments on X/Twitter, writing, “Lawd! Louis can’t help himself, just slagged me for popping in to see him at GREAT INCONVENIENCE, making me late for the British Diversity Awards. Such a Beeeeach!”

Additionally, Sinitta shared an unusual experience from her singing career in the 1990s. She recounted a peculiar “incentive” she received while being propositioned by a “gentleman” in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. “In the 1990s, my dancers and I were flown to Abu Dhabi and Dubai to perform for the sheikh,” she told The Times. “I awoke one morning to see a Rolls-Royce hanging outside my bedroom window on a crane. The car was an incentive for me to spend the evening with a ‘gentleman.’ I was horrified; just because my stage costumes are skimpy, it does not mean that I am a prostitute.”
