Slipknot Fans Discuss 2024 Tour Setlist

Slipknot fans are eagerly sharing their thoughts online about the band’s 25th anniversary tour setlist, where they’re performing their 1999 self-titled album in its entirety.

While Slipknot’s typical setlist in 2023 featured around 16 songs and included tracks from each of their seven studio albums, their current tour setlist consists of 14 songs, all from the late ’90s.

“Nothing you will hear tonight was written after 1999,” Corey Taylor announced to the crowd during their kickoff show in Noblesville, Indiana on August 6.

As a result, fan-favorites from later in Slipknot’s career, including “People = Shit,” “Duality,” “Psychosocial,” and “The Devil in I,” are missing from the performances.

Instead, the band is playing every track from the album Slipknot—except for “Diluted,” which has never been performed live before. They’re also playing other cuts from the era that appeared on later reissues of the album. Some of these tracks hadn’t been played in decades and were revived specifically for this tour.

Three songs, “Tattered & Torn,” “Frail Limb Nursery,” and “Mudslide,” are played on tape during the performance.

Now that Slipknot is two shows into the tour, fans are sharing their thoughts on the setlist online. Opinions are mixed, with some fans thrilled about the rare tracks being played, and others disappointed that more of the band’s later hits aren’t included.

In a discussion on Reddit, some fans noted that the band didn’t inform attendees upfront that they would be exclusively playing the 1999 album. People who bought tickets might not have realized the shows focus solely on that specific era of Slipknot’s career.

“I think they could add a few more songs to this extremely short setlist to round it out, please both fan bases and not have people at each other’s throats online about it. I doubt the ‘OG’ fans would be pissed if they added some hits,” one person suggested.

“It’s still a pretty short set for a band with this much material. I LOVE S/T, but I think a 4-5 song encore with the hits would be nice,” another added.

However, many fans are absolutely ecstatic about the setlist. They praised the band for switching up their set so drastically from what they’ve been performing in recent years. Some fans admitted they grew tired of hearing the hits at every show.

“All about perspective. This is why most bands don’t do special tours often. Slipknot is doing something really special here, and people are failing to see that. If they do an Iowa tour in 2026, people will complain then too. But the fans from the beginning will love it just like we’re loving this set!” a fan commented on Reddit.

“From what I’ve seen online, it’s new and younger fans that are disappointed and complaining. Slipknot hasn’t changed up their setlist in so long. This setlist is absolutely insane, and I love that they aren’t playing any extra songs!” another user commented.

As Slipknot continues their 25th anniversary tour, reactions are sure to keep pouring in. Whether fans feel ecstatic about the celebration of the band’s earlier work or disappointed by the omission of their later hits, the setlist has certainly generated significant buzz and conversation among the metal community.
