Slipknot Member Injured in Bonfire Explosion on Iowa Farm

Sid Wilson of Slipknot recently shared an update on his health after a serious bonfire accident at his Iowa farm resulted in his hospitalization. On August 28, the 47-year-old musician spoke to Fox News, revealing the extent of his injuries, which included severe burns on his face and arms.

“My entire right arm is bandaged, and half of my left arm is too,” Wilson explained. “My face is pretty badly burned from the nose down, but the swelling is reducing. They mentioned that the face heals surprisingly fast, so it’s recovering well.”

Describing the incident, Wilson said, “I had lit a wood pile and let it burn down. The next day, I checked to see what was left and saw some remaining debris. I made a mistake by adding gasoline to it. I was looking for a long branch to light it from a safe distance, but I couldn’t find one quickly enough. My impatience led me to light it up close, and since it was very humid, the vapors caused an explosion.”

Wilson’s girlfriend, Kelly Osbourne, added that he received immediate medical care, including dressing his wounds with fake scabs until he could be treated at a burn unit.

After spending one night in the hospital, Wilson returned home. On August 24, he posted on Instagram, showing photos and videos of his injuries, including singed eyebrows and a blistered face.

Despite the severity of his burns, he assured fans he was recovering and promised to see them on tour. Slipknot’s tour kicks off on September 1 in Pryor, OK, and they are set to perform in Des Moines at KnotFest Iowa on September 21, 2024.
