Social Media Reacts to Obama’s Hand Gesture About Trump’s Crowd Sizes

Barack Obama sparked a frenzy on social media after making a biting remark regarding Donald Trump’s “weird obsession with crowd sizes” during the Democratic National Convention.

On the second evening of the event, Obama launched into a speech filled with jabs aimed at Trump, who succeeded him in the presidency in 2016.

He referred to Trump as a “78-year-old billionaire who has not stopped whining about his problems since he rode down his golden escalator nine years ago.” Obama noted that Trump’s “constant stream of gripes and grievances” appears to have intensified as he now fears losing to Kamala Harris.

The audience listened closely as Obama criticized Trump’s history of “childish nicknames” and “crazy conspiracy theories.”

However, it was a particular moment in his address that elicited laughter and garnered considerable attention from viewers at home.

“There’s the childish nicknames, the crazy conspiracy theories, this weird obsession with crowd sizes… it just goes on and on and on,” Obama remarked.

Obama made a curious hand gesture to emphasize his point

As he emphasized his point, Obama made a curious hand gesture, looking down at his own hands before glancing back up at the audience for dramatic effect.

His words were met with raucous cheers from the crowd in Chicago, and social media soon chimed in.

One post on social media read, “Barack Obama just got under Trump’s skin BIGLY…”

Another commentator stated, “I think he’s being WAY too generous.”

Many others simply allowed Obama’s remarks to speak for themselves, punctuating his phrase with pointed emojis.

At the same time, references to adult film star Stormy Daniels, who had a sexual relationship with Trump in 2006, began to circulate. Daniels was paid hush money to keep quiet about it during the 2016 presidential campaign.

One user quipped, “Stormy knows,” while others humorously dubbed Trump “Dinky Donald,” suggesting he is “sensitive about size.”

Trump’s fixation on crowd sizes has become increasingly evident during this election cycle. Earlier in the month, he wrongly claimed that his rally on January 6, just before the Capitol riot, attracted a crowd comparable to that at Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech during the 1963 March on Washington.

Additionally, Trump has criticized Kamala Harris for the size of her rally crowds, falsely claiming that photographs featuring large crowds welcoming Harris and her running mate, Tim Walz, at an airport in Michigan were fabricated or AI-generated.

Photographic and video evidence has since debunked his assertions.

Trump’s focus on the crowd sizes comes as polls indicate Harris leads him by 2.9 points, while he and his running mate, JD Vance, are facing backlash over a series of controversial statements.

Trump has received criticism for calling Harris “stupid” and questioning her racial heritage, while Vance has faced backlash for derogatory comments aimed at women.
