Sofia Vergara had plenty of reasons to celebrate on Wednesday, especially given she was surrounded by her closest friends and her boyfriend, Justin Saliman.
The AGT judge turned 52 on July 10 and marked the occasion with a lavish birthday dinner. Among the attendees was Heidi Klum, Sofia’s friend and co-judge from AGT since 2020, and, of course, Justin, the dashing orthopedic surgeon.
Heidi shared several snapshots from the intimate gathering, including a heartwarming clip that showed Sofia and Justin snuggled up. The cozy moment was briefly interrupted by Heidi, who popped in to wish Sofia a happy birthday herself.
The dinner was marked by a notable highlight: Sofia was presented with two birthday cakes, one prominently featuring her face. Justin looked on proudly as he joined in the chorus of Happy Birthday. Sofia, catching a slight hint of awkwardness, admired the cakes before deciding to indulge.
These lovebirds were first romantically linked in October 2023, a few months following Sofia’s split from her ex-husband Joe Manganiello in July. Their romance seemed to blossom quickly, with Sofia publicly sharing her affection for Justin just a few months later.
In April, following major knee surgery, Sofia posted to her Instagram Story a photo of Justin tenderly caring for her while dressed in scrubs. “If u ever get major knee surgery make sure u get a handsome doctor who will sleep with u that night!!!! Luv u Dr @jdsaliman,” she captioned, complete with a laughing emoji and Justin’s smiling face.
Justin brings an impressive résumé. He’s a Stanford sports medicine-trained orthopedic surgeon practicing at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles. Before moving to LA, Justin served the San Francisco 49ers and the athletic teams at Santa Clara and Stanford Universities.
Beyond his surgical expertise, Justin is also an entrepreneur and inventor. He founded Ceterix Orthopedics and created the NovoStitch Pro Meniscal Repair System, aimed at helping surgeons repair meniscus tears while maintaining the knee’s natural health and stability. “I can have more of an impact on humanity by solving a need in the medtech space than I ever could treating individual patients,” Justin told Forbes. “If I didn’t do your knee surgery, then someone else would, but if I didn’t build Ceterix, I didn’t believe anyone else would.”
Justin’s entrepreneurial spirit has also brought financial success. In 2019, Ceterix Orthopedics was acquired by Smith & Nephew, a major medical device company, for an impressive $105 million.
As for his relationship with Sofia, it appears to be flourishing. The couple seemed happy and close at her birthday celebration, a refreshing contrast following her divorce from Joe Manganiello after seven years of marriage.
When Sofia and Joe decided to split, they issued a joint statement: “We have made the difficult decision to divorce. As two people that love and care for one another very much, we politely ask for respect of our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives.” Just two days later, on July 19, 2023, Joe filed for divorce citing “irreconcilable differences.” Their divorce was finalized in February 2024.
