Southern California Doctor Shot Outside Medical Clinic in Targeted Attack

A tragic incident unfolded in Woodland Hills, California, as a doctor was shot and killed outside his medical clinic. The shooting, which occurred on a Friday evening, is believed to have been a targeted attack.

Dr. Hamid Mirshojae, aged 61, was reportedly leaving his clinic around 6:15 PM when the incident took place. He was walking toward his car in the parking lot of the Woodland Hills Medical Clinic and Urgent Care, located approximately 25 miles northwest of central Los Angeles, when an unknown assailant approached him.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the suspect had been waiting in the parking lot for nearly an hour before Dr. Mirshojae came outside. As the doctor approached his vehicle, the suspect ambushed him, opening fire before fleeing on foot.

The doctor suffered fatal wounds and collapsed in the parking lot. Paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department pronounced him dead at the scene.

In the aftermath of the tragedy, a makeshift memorial for Dr. Mirshojae has begun to take shape outside the clinic. Community members are paying their respects as they remember the beloved physician.

A former patient, Khedhar Quintero, expressed his sorrow during an interview, describing Dr. Mirshojae as “full of love.” Quintero remarked that the doctor treated each patient with care and concern, emphasizing that he viewed them as individuals rather than just numbers in his waiting room.

The shooting has left many in the community in shock. Friends and acquaintances noted that Dr. Mirshojae’s wife and their six-month-old baby were visiting family in Turkey at the time of the incident. He is also the father of three other children from a previous marriage.

Local residents have voiced their disbelief at the killing, questioning why someone who devoted his life to helping others would be targeted. One resident, Sarah Kay, told reporters, “It’s just mind-blowing. Why would someone want to hurt someone who wants to help others? It’s really sad, and my thoughts are with his family.”

Another woman, who spoke to CBS News outside the clinic, shared her devastation, stating she had not only lost her doctor but also a friend. The impact of Dr. Mirshojae’s work in the community has been profound, touching the lives of many individuals.

Quintero provided insight into the doctor’s practice, noting that Dr. Mirshojae helped numerous patients battling drug addiction. He speculated that the doctor’s involvement in such critical work may have played a role in his tragic death.

“He helped a lot of people with detox,” Quintero explained. “Who knows what someone might have been going through? He could have altered someone’s life for the better, and perhaps that change didn’t sit well with someone else, resulting in this horrific act.”

As the investigation continues, authorities are working diligently to ascertain a motive for the attack. At this point, there has been no description given of the suspect involved in the shooting.
