Steve Carell Calls Ryan Gosling the ‘Rizz King’

Ryan Gosling, renowned actor, received a unique accolade from his co-star Steve Carell, who referred to him as the “rizz king.” In a recent TikTok interview with IGV Presents, Carell was asked which of his co-stars have “rizz,” a slang term for charisma. Initially, Carell mentioned Paul Rudd and Will Ferrell, but he ultimately settled on Gosling.

Carell humorously noted, “Maybe the ‘rizz king,’ and I always call him the ‘rizz king,’ is Ryan Gosling. Sometimes I just call him Rizz Gosling. He is the epitome of rizz.” While the comment was made in jest, it was a lighthearted moment showcasing the camaraderie between actors.

The term “rizz” has gained popularity recently, symbolizing a person’s charisma. It’s become a trendy topic at press events, even making its way into questions posed to celebrities. Interestingly, Tom Hanks previously dismissed the term, saying that if someone has to claim to have “rizz,” then they likely do not possess it.

Steve Carell is widely recognized for his role on NBC’s “The Office” as Michael Scott, which he played for the first seven seasons. He initially rose to fame with a supporting role on “The Dana Carvey Show.” Early in his career, Carell appeared in notable films such as “Bruce Almighty,” “Anchorman,” and “The 40-Year-Old Virgin.” During his tenure on “The Office,” Carell continued to secure prominent movie roles, including in “Get Smart,” “Crazy, Stupid, Love” (which featured Gosling), and “Foxcatcher.”

In 2015, Carell starred alongside Gosling, Christian Bale, and Brad Pitt in “The Big Short.” His more recent works include “Beautiful Boy,” “Vice,” “Asteroid City,” and “IF,” the latter of which reunited him with “The Office” co-star John Krasinski.

Additionally, Carell is the voice behind Gru in the popular “Despicable Me” franchise, one of the most successful animated film series. The franchise recently added its fourth installment.

Ryan Gosling, a celebrated actor, recently garnered an Oscar nomination for his role in “Barbie,” where he played Ken opposite Margot Robbie. He also performed “I’m Just Ken” at the Oscars with his co-stars. Gosling’s early breakthrough roles include “The Believer” and “The Notebook.” He continued his successful career with major roles in the 2010s such as “Drive,” “Crazy, Stupid, Love,” “Gangster Squad,” “The Nice Guys,” and “Blade Runner 2049.”

In 2016, Gosling starred in “La La Land,” earning his second acting Oscar nomination following his first for “Half Nelson.” After “First Man,” he took a brief hiatus from acting, returning in the Netflix thriller “The Gray Man,” alongside Chris Evans and Ana de Armas.

Despite competing films “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer” in 2023, Gosling and Emily Blunt teamed up in “The Fall Guy.” Directed by David Leitch, the movie premiered at SXSW in 2024 and has grossed $177 million at the box office to date.
