Steven Tyler’s Vocal Injury Halts Band’s Farewell Tour

Aug. 2 (UPI) — The legendary American rock band Aerosmith, which originated in Boston in 1970 and has since sold 150 million records worldwide, announced on Friday the abrupt cancellation of their farewell concert series. This decision comes due to injuries to lead singer Steven Tyler’s voice.

Aerosmith commenced their “Peace Out” farewell tour in September. However, the band had to reschedule the tour just a month into it. This move was to allow Steven Tyler some time to recuperate after injuring his voice at the beginning of the tour.

In a release on the band’s website this Friday, they revealed that “a full recovery from his vocal injury is not possible.”

“We’ve always aimed to deliver mind-blowing performances,” the band expressed in their statement. They emphasized the uniqueness of Steven’s voice as an instrument. “He has spent months tirelessly working on getting his voice to where it was before his injury. Despite having the best medical team by his side, we’ve seen him struggle.”

“Sadly, it is clear that a full recovery from his vocal injury is not possible,” the statement reiterated. “We have made a heartbreaking and difficult, but necessary, decision — as a band of brothers — to retire from the touring stage.”

The band assured fans that anyone who purchased tickets through Ticketmaster would automatically receive a refund. They also urged fans who used third-party resale sites like SeatGeek, StubHub, and VividSeats to contact those platforms for details on refunds.
