Summer Thrives in ‘That ’70s Show’ Spinoff
It’s time to head back to Point Place, Wisconsin, even sooner than expected.
Netflix released the trailer for part three of That ’70s Show spinoff series That ’90s Show on Thursday. The new batch of episodes is set to be released next week, moving up from its original release date of Oct. 24.
That ’90s Show follows Leia Forman (Callie Haverda), the daughter of That ’70s Show’s central characters Eric (Topher Grace) and Donna (Laura Prepon), during her summer stays with her grandparents Red and Kitty (Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp). Season one took place in 1995, with the recently released part two and upcoming part three set in 1996.
Part three of the series picks right back up in Forman’s kitchen, the trailer kicking off with Kevin Smith—as Leo’s (Tommy Chong) son, Sonny—crashing through the iconic kitchen. Red and Kitty, having just returned from Paris, find a giant hole in the wall. “Someone’s gonna die!” Rupp’s Kitty says of the scene during the trailer.
Leia spends much of the trailer getting up to teenage hijinks, talking to her friends about her relationship with Jay (Mace Coronel), son of original That ’70s Show characters Kelso (Ashton Kutcher) and Jackie (Mila Kunis), and plotting with her Point Place friends to convince her mother to stay.
That ’90s Show premiered in January 2023, receiving a season two order just two weeks later for 16 episodes, the first of which debuted on June 27. That ’70s Show regulars Grace, Prepon, Kutcher, Kunis, and Wilmer Valderrama have all made appearances throughout the series. Prepon is the only one of the core group shown in the trailer, however, Seth Green’s Mitch Miller also makes his return in the trailer.
That ’90s Show part three will be eight episodes and is set to be released on Netflix Aug. 22.
