Superman & Lois Teaser: Michael Cudlitz Voices Lex Luthor in Final Season

“Superman is dead,” uttered Lex Luthor, played by Michael Cudlitz from The Walking Dead, in the teaser for the fourth and final season of Superman & Lois. In the teaser, Luther is seen speaking to an unknown individual, adding, “Can we please just enjoy the moment?” Fans can watch the teaser online.

The full-length trailer for season 4 is set to debut at San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) on July 7.

In 2023, Michael Cudlitz joined the cast of Superman & Lois, bringing the iconic DC villain Lex Luthor to life. His character made an appearance in the final two episodes of the third season and will feature prominently in the upcoming fourth season, a 10-part series premiering on The CW on October 17th with a special 2-hour debut episode.

Earlier this year, Cudlitz expressed his gratitude and sentiment towards the role on Twitter (now known as X), stating that portraying Lex Luthor was one of the highlights of his career.

Superman & Lois, based on characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster for DC Comics, was developed by Todd Helbing and Greg Berlanti for The CW. The series first aired in 2021 and begins with Superman/Clark Kent and Lois Lane moving back to Smallville after spending time in Metropolis. They bring along their teenage sons, Jonathan and Jordan. The series explores the dual challenges they face – balancing their careers as a superhero and a renowned journalist, while also managing parenthood.

Over the past three seasons, Superman and Lois have faced numerous adversaries. In the forthcoming season 4, Lex Luthor, who was recently released from prison for a crime he didn’t commit, is set on seeking revenge. The big question is whether Superman will survive this encounter, or if the teaser has already disclosed his fate.

In the fourth season, there will be notable changes to the cast. Chiriqui, Valdez, Navarette, Parks, Buck, and Hasmik have been demoted to guest stars, while Walsh will not return as Sam Lane. However, Hoechlin, Tulloch, Bishop, and Garfin continue as series regulars, and Cudlitz has been added to that roster. This season will also introduce Smith as Jimmy Olson.

The creators Todd Helbing and Brent Fletcher expressed their excitement about the forthcoming season with a statement that read, “We’re thrilled about what we have in store in our final season, and can’t wait for everyone to watch as Superman, Lois, and all our heroes face off against the biggest threat in the show’s history — Lex Luthor.”

Outside of his role in Superman & Lois, Michael Cudlitz also stars in the crime drama Unspoken directed by Daming Chen, and the dramedy Beautiful Disaster, alongside Dylan Sprouse and Virginia Gardner.
