Support pours in for Charles Spencer after family loss at Althorp

Charles Spencer, the younger brother of Princess Diana, has been supported by his fans as he revealed the heartbreaking news that his cherished pet dog, Otis, had to be put to sleep on Friday evening.

The Earl shared a touching photograph of Otis, a Labrador, lounging comfortably in the doorway of his grand Althorp home. This heartwarming photo accompanied his announcement. “Farewell to Otis, our wonderful Labrador, who had to be put to sleep last night,” Charles shared. “He was nearly 13. Otis will now join his father, Karoo, and grandmother, Ella, in a beautiful spot in the Park at @althorphouse.”

In a sorrowful tone, the father-of-seven reflected on Otis’s impact on everyone at Althorp. “Everyone at Althorp loved Otis – several people here have talked today of his having been a ‘total legend’. The place won’t be the same without his wise, sweet, intelligent presence. He was extremely special.”

In a candid revelation to the Mail on Sunday, Charles hinted that revisiting these traumatic experiences may have contributed to the rift in his marriage. “I just want to devote myself to all my children, and to my grandchildren, and I wish Karen every happiness in the future,” he stated.

During a difficult period, Karen expressed her gratitude for the outpouring of support she received from well-wishers. “Just wanted to say that I have been overwhelmed by the messages of love and support. Karen, 52, married Charles in 2011 after being set up on a blind date in Los Angeles the previous year. The couple tied the knot four months after Charles proposed in the grounds of the family estate. They share a daughter, Charlotte Diana, whose name poignantly honors Princess Diana.
