Surviving Cast Members of 1973’s The Six Million Dollar Man

Born in 1939, Lee Majors stands as one of the most iconic television stars the United States has ever produced. The actor’s career took flight in 1964, when he began working in the TV industry. Majors soon landed a significant supporting role on ABC’s Western-themed series “The Big Valley.” Following numerous TV and film appearances, his big break came in 1973 when he became the titular Six Million Dollar Man. Starting out as Steve Austin, Majors appeared in three television films that served as pilot movies, introducing audiences to the show’s high-concept themes. This role thrust Majors into international acclaim, a well-deserved recognition given his dedication to bringing realism to the sci-fi series.

In a 2015 interview with Den of Geek, Majors reflected on his most memorable role. He discussed the challenges he faced, stating, “Sometimes I think fondly of it, then a lot of times I think, ‘Boy, that was a lot of hard work. They ran my butt off!’ I did probably 85% of my own stunt work, and so today I think I’m getting close to a knee replacement, it’s giving me a little trouble.”

But Majors’ success wasn’t limited to “The Six Million Dollar Man.” After his time as Steve Austin concluded, he became the titular “Fall Guy,” another hit series on ABC. His acting career didn’t stop there; Majors continued to make appearances in various television programs, including “Community” and “Ash vs. Evil Dead.” In 2024, he reprised his role for the cinematic “Fall Guy” adaptation, making a special post-credits cameo appearance.
