Suspect Charged in Killing of Four Sleeping Individuals on CTA Blue Line

4 dead after shooting on train in Chicago area 02:52

A tragic mass shooting occurred on a CTA Blue Line train in Forest Park, a suburb of Chicago, leaving four individuals dead on Monday morning.

The suspect, Rhanni Davis, 30, from Chicago, has been charged with four counts of first-degree murder in connection with this horrific event, as confirmed by local authorities.

The shooting took place shortly before 5:30 a.m., as the train was approaching the Forest Park terminal. Among the victims, three were found deceased at the scene, while a fourth victim was transported to a nearby hospital but unfortunately succumbed to their injuries.

As of Tuesday afternoon, two of the victims have been identified: 28-year-old Simeon Bihesi and 60-year-old Adrian Collins. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office reported that the other victims included a 52-year-old man and a 64-year-old woman.

Using surveillance footage, the CTA security team and Forest Park Police were able to locate Davis on a CTA Pink Line train. He was apprehended later that morning, and a firearm was recovered in the process.

Preliminary investigations suggest that this tragic incident was an isolated event. It appears that Davis did not have any prior connection or acquaintance with the victims. Witness accounts indicate that the victims were likely asleep on the train when they were attacked, and authorities do not believe robbery was a motive.

This shooting has left the community in shock and mourning as they seek answers in the wake of such senseless violence. The police are carrying out thorough investigations to provide further clarity and ensure justice for the victims and their families.

A news conference is scheduled for Tuesday evening to disclose more details regarding the charges and the case’s developments.
