The Duke and Duchess of Sussex kicked off their highly anticipated four-day tour of Colombia with a warm welcome from the nation’s vice president, Francia Márquez.

The couple arrived in the capital city on Thursday and were greeted by Ms. Márquez and her husband, Rafael Yerney Pinillo.

The visit to the South American country has many similarities to an official royal overseas visit. This trip marks Prince Harry and Meghan’s second overseas engagement this year, following their three-day visit to Nigeria at the invitation of the West African nation’s chief of defense staff.

At a press conference ahead of Harry and Meghan’s arrival, Ms. Márquez described the Sussexes’ trip as a “very special visit” aimed at building bridges and joining forces against cyberbullying. Here, the couple made a very stylish entrance to kick off the visit.

During their trip, the Sussexes spent a relaxed afternoon at the vice president’s residence. They exchanged gifts and enjoyed traditional Colombian hospitality, demonstrating their commitment to building positive relations.

The couple did not miss the opportunity to engage with the local culture. They attended a folkloric presentation at Centro Nacional de las Artes Delia Zapata, which featured vibrant performances reflecting Colombia’s rich cultural traditions.

There was also a sweet moment of public affection between Harry and Meghan. Meghan leaned into her husband, and Harry kissed the top of her head, capturing a touching, personal moment.

The Duke and Duchess took time to greet and applaud all of the performers, dancers, actors, and crew involved in the day’s programming. Their interaction with the local talent highlighted their appreciation for Colombia’s vibrant arts and culture scene.
