Taylor Swift Chosen by Ryan Reynolds to Replace Deadpool

Ryan Reynolds has a unique idea for a Deadpool replacement—none other than Taylor Swift.

In an interview with E! News, Reynolds addressed the swirling rumors about Swift’s involvement in the upcoming Deadpool and Wolverine movie. “I will say once and for all that the cameo thing with Taylor, because she’s our friend— that is not in this film,” he clarified.

But Reynolds does think highly of Swift’s potential in the role. “I always do say that if anyone ever were to take over the role of Deadpool, actually Taylor would be very good,” he said. “Because that’s a superpower that I don’t know that she shows everyone too often: She’s one of the funniest people I’ve ever met.”

While it’s unlikely that Swift will replace Reynolds as the foul-mouthed, wisecracking anti-hero, it’s an intriguing possibility for fans to ponder. Marvel enthusiasts will have to wait until July 26 to see if any surprises involving Swift are in store when Deadpool and Wolverine are released.

Deadpool and Wolverine promises plenty of cameos and surprises. Hugh Jackman is reprising his iconic role as Wolverine, a character he played from 2000 to 2017 in Fox’s X-Men universe. This return is surprising, especially since Wolverine’s character met a conclusive end in “Logan.”

Adding to the excitement, former Deadpool actors Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, Brianna Hildebrand, and Stefan Kapičić will return for the movie.

In addition, several stars from Fox’s Marvel films will be making appearances. Jennifer Garner is set to play Elektra again, a role she hasn’t revisited since her 2005 solo film. Dafne Keen, Aaron Stanford, and Tyler Mane will also return as X-23, Pyro, and Sabretooth, respectively.

The movie is directed by Shawn Levy, who co-wrote the script with Reynolds, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Zeb Wells. Levy has collaborated with Reynolds and Jackman on projects such as Free Guy, The Adam Project, and Real Steel.

As for the plot, Wade Wilson (Reynolds) is living a quiet life years after the events of the last movie. His tranquility is disrupted when the Time Variance Authority (TVA) recruits him for a high-stakes mission. Along the way, he enlists the help of a reluctant Wolverine (Jackman).

Taylor Swift, meanwhile, continues to reign as one of the biggest stars in the world. She is currently on her “Eras” tour, which is her most ambitious concert series to date. The tour kicked off on March 17, 2023, in Glendale, Arizona.

Over the course of 2023, Swift toured across North America before heading to Mexico, Argentina, and Brazil to close out the year. In 2024, she resumed the “Eras” tour with performances in Japan, Australia, and Singapore in February and March.

After a short break, Swift picked up the tour again in Nanterre, France. She is currently in the European leg of the tour, which will continue until August 20. The European segment will conclude with five performances at Wembley Stadium in London, England.

Following the European dates, Swift will return to North America for the final 18 shows of the “Eras” tour. Nine of these shows will be in the United States, and the remaining nine will be in Canada. The tour is set to wrap up on December 8, 2024.

As anticipation builds for the release of Deadpool and Wolverine on July 26, fans will undoubtedly keep speculating about potential surprises. Whether Taylor Swift will make an appearance remains to be seen, but the buzz surrounding the film is undeniable.
