Taylor Swift Performs in the Rain at Hamburg Eras Tour Show

Teardrops were definitely falling during Taylor Swift’s first night at the Eras Tour in Hamburg, Germany. The 34-year-old singer braved a heavy downpour at Volkswagenstadion on Tuesday evening, delivering a high-energy performance despite the soaking rain. Throughout more than half of the concert, Swift remained undeterred, singing and dancing as if the weather was just another part of the show.

Photos and videos from the event capture a drenched yet determined Swift, who electrified an audience of about 50,000 fans. The singer’s stamina was evident as she continued to perform flawlessly, evading any potential mishaps. Fans will have another opportunity to catch her performance on Wednesday night before she heads to Munich for her next show on Saturday, July 27.

This isn’t Swift’s first encounter with bad weather during her tour. Last year in Foxborough, Massachusetts, rain not only soaked the stage but damaged her piano, causing it to play on its own. These moments have become legendary among fans, who appreciate Swift’s commitment to putting on a spectacular show regardless of the elements.

Tuesday night’s rain-soaked concert was a feast for fans’ eyes, offering stunning visuals of Swift with wet hair and drenched costumes. As the night wore on, the singer once again showcased her musical prowess during the acoustic surprise song portion, opting for a mashup that fit the rainy occasion perfectly.

She combined “Teardrops on My Guitar” and “The Last Time” from her album “Red.” The first song is from her debut album “Taylor Swift,” one of the two albums she has yet to release as “Taylor’s Version.” Fans have long speculated about when she might drop “Reputation Taylor’s Version,” but for now, they were thrilled by this impromptu performance under the rainy skies in Hamburg.

In fan-captured videos, Swift can be seen strumming her guitar in a floor-length orange dress, confirming her song choice as she began to sing. One fan even took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their excitement: “Teardrops On My Guitar x The Last Time ???? THE BIGGEST LOSS EVER omfg :,))) #HamburgTSTheErasTour.”

Not stopping there, Swift continued her mashup magic on the piano. She blended “We Were Happy” from “Fearless” with “Happiness” from “Evermore.” The singer has recently become somewhat of a mashup expert during her Eras Tour, frequently surprising fans with new combinations of songs.

In June, she introduced several themed mashups during her Liverpool, England, and Cardiff, Wales shows. On June 17, she performed the “Murder Mashup” by combining “No Body, No Crime” with “Carolina.” Days later, she crafted a “Diss Track Mashup” on Scooter Braun’s birthday by merging “I Forgot That You Existed” with “This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things.”

Swift’s mashups have often carried personal or fan-dedicated themes. Recently, she seemingly honored her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, during a performance in Amsterdam. With the tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs in the audience, the singer performed “Mary’s Song (Oh My My My),” “So High School,” and “Everything Has Changed,” songs that fans connected to Kelce.

Swift and Kelce’s relationship shows no signs of slowing down. The football star even made a surprise appearance onstage during her London show at Wembley Stadium on June 23. A source revealed that the couple had planned his cameo for some time, and the moment was as special for Swift as it was for her fans.

“Taylor and Travis have recently discussed Travis making an appearance onstage at the Eras tour, when timing was right, and they finally made it happen,” the source said. “Travis was so excited to support Taylor onstage, and Taylor couldn’t be happier to feature him, especially during such a fun, pivotal scene in the show.”

The source added, “Travis only had one night of rehearsal, the evening before he performed on stage, and didn’t miss a beat. Taylor was beaming from ear to ear as Travis took on the dapper role. The two are hoping he can make a cameo again in the future.”

As Swift continues her record-breaking tour, both the rain and her relationship with Kelce add memorable chapters to her illustrious career. For fans who can’t get enough, more magical moments are undoubtedly on the horizon.
