Taylor Swift Treats Tour Staff to Night Out Before London Eras Tour Start

Taylor Swift is set to begin her five-night performance at London’s Wembley Stadium tonight (August 15) following the cancellation of her Vienna shows last week due to a thwarted terror threat. Swift has not publicly commented on the plot that aimed to harm fans at her Austrian concerts.

In the lead-up to her London performances, Swift reportedly took her staff out for a night in London. The event on Monday night (August 12) was part of the wrap-up for the European leg of her global tour. According to sources, the singer and her team visited Annabel’s, a private club in London. Swift was seen wearing a plaid jacket and skirt set from the Vivienne Westwood fall/winter 2024 collection, paired with a ruffled white shirt and chunky heels.

Efforts to reach a spokesperson for Swift for comments on the staff outing were unsuccessful at press time.

This isn’t the first time Taylor Swift has shown appreciation for her Eras Tour staff. Last August, she reportedly handed out $100,000 bonuses to each of the 50 truck drivers on her tour, amounting to around $5 million. Additional bonuses were also given to her band members, dancers, lighting and sound techs, caterers, and other staffers.

The Vienna shows, planned for August 8-10 at Ernst Happel Stadium, were canceled by Austrian promoter Barracuda Music on August 7 due to a significant terror threat. The suspects reportedly intended to use explosives and knives to cause mass casualties among Swift’s fans, known as Swifties.

The main suspect, a 19-year-old, has been arrested. Reports suggest that the individual was radicalized online and had pledged allegiance to the Islamic State terror group. Two other suspects, a 17-year-old with a job at the stadium and a 15-year-old with knowledge of the plot, were also detained. Another suspect connected to the main suspect was detained on August 9. The lawyer for the main suspect claims that the case against his client is exaggerated and asserts that his client lacked the means to carry out the attack.

Earlier this week, Wembley Stadium announced that Swift’s fans, commonly referred to as Swifties, would be allowed to enter the venue earlier than usual. Set times have also been adjusted for the sold-out performances, which run from tonight through Tuesday (August 20). The stadium stressed that only ticketed fans would be allowed to stand near any entrance or area around the venue. “Non-ticket holders will be moved on,” the venue stated. This comes after thousands of unticketed fans gathered outside European stadiums for “tay-gating” events.
