The 2024 Paris Olympics promise to be an extraordinary spectacle, and Telemundo Deportes is gearing up to deliver comprehensive Spanish-language coverage for U.S. audiences. Telemundo announced that they will deploy their largest-ever talent roster for an Olympics, featuring more than 40 commentators.

Telemundo is the exclusive Spanish-language U.S. broadcaster of the Olympic Games. For Paris 2024, the network will deploy over 40 hosts, commentators, and in-country reporters. This extensive team will kick off their coverage two days before the Opening Ceremony, starting with the Men’s Soccer Competition on July 24. The coverage will extend through August 11 and will be broadcast across Telemundo, Universo, and Peacock.

“We are proud to unveil the network’s largest and most diverse commentary roster ever. This marks Telemundo’s most significant commitment to Olympic coverage in our history,” said Eli Velazquez, Executive Vice President, Sports, Telemundo. He added that the team represents various Latin American countries and disciplines that are important to Latino audiences, aiming to deliver comprehensive and engaging coverage.

The lineup will see the return of many of Telemundo’s signature Olympic hosts, play-by-play announcers, analysts, and Olympians. New voices will also join the mix. The team will include Manuel Sol, a former midfielder who represented Mexico in the 1996 Summer Olympics, Isabella Echeverri, a former Colombia National Team midfielder from Rio 2016, and Isabella Arcila, a professional swimmer who represented Colombia in Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020.

Other notable figures include Walter Herrmann, a member of Argentina’s national basketball team and 2004 Olympic basketball gold medalist, Danell Leyva, a Cuban-American gymnast and two-time Olympic medalist, and Abner Mares, a Mexican American professional boxer who represented Mexico in Athens 2004.

Telemundo’s primary hosts for the Olympics will be Miguel Gurwitz, Jessica Carrillo, Carlota Vizmanos, and Copan Alvarez. Gurwitz is an Emmy-winning Olympic veteran, having covered the Summer Olympics since 2000 and the Winter Olympics since 2002. Carrillo previously co-hosted with him at Rio 2016 and was also part of the late-night recap show at Tokyo 2020.

Vizmanos is making her debut as an Olympic host, though she is the lead Premier League host for Telemundo. She is also stepping into the role of soccer match analyst at these games. Alvarez, known for his versatility in sports coverage, will be handling tennis coverage in addition to his hosting duties.

Telemundo’s coverage will also feature other prominent figures. Jessi Losada, one of the main hosts of their first Olympic coverage 20 years ago, will return to celebrate that anniversary. Veronica Rodriguez, known for the soccer show Zona Mixta, and Freddy Lomel will host the late-night show that begins at midnight Eastern each night. The in-country soccer team will be led by renowned commentator and eight-time Emmy winner Andres Cantor. The team will also include Natalia Astrain, Manuel Sol, and Carlos Yustis, who is Telemundo’s first dedicated Olympic soccer reporter on the ground.

Telemundo is clearly investing substantial resources into their coverage for Paris 2024, and it will be interesting to see how their plans come to fruition.
