‘The Boys’ Creator Warns Fans to Expect “Lots of Death” in Final Season

Eric Kripke is teasing the beginning of the end, and he’s going out with a bang.

The creator of The Boys has warned fans of “lots of death” in the highly anticipated fifth and final season of the Prime Video series, which follows a record-breaking Season 4.

“There’s no guarantee of who’s gonna survive because we don’t have to keep them for another season, so you can have really shocking, big things happen all the time,” Kripke shared with Total Film. “And so, as the writers, as we’re starting to cook it up, we’re really enjoying that.”

Kripke highlighted the pressure to deliver a satisfying conclusion after it was announced in June that the show would wrap up after five seasons, which he mentioned was “always my plan.”

“So many series finales suck, and it’s really hard to land the plane,” Kripke added. “I am very grateful to Amazon for giving me the opportunity to end it on our own terms, but for sure, I feel lots and lots of pressure to end it well. Because I think if we can stick the landing, then people will be like, ‘That’s a great show!’ But if we mess it up, people will say, ‘Oh, it was a good show, but they messed it up.’”

In 2020, Kripke mentioned that his “rough idea” for the comic book TV adaptation was “roughly five seasons,” while recognizing that his previous show Supernatural ran for 15 seasons. “But I also know better than to say how many seasons a show is gonna have,” he commented at the time.

The final season of The Boys comes on the heels of Season 4, which topped the Nielsen streaming scores for the first time, setting multiple records for Prime Video. Meanwhile, Prime Video has ordered the prequel series Vought Rising, featuring Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash as Soldier Boy and Stormfront.
