The Boys Season 4 Increases Viewership by 20% Over Season 3

Amazon Prime Video’s The Boys has garnered rave reviews since its inception. However, the recent Season 4 has drawn a fair share of criticism, with many viewers claiming that the show is starting to lose its initial edge and showing signs of decline.

Despite this, Eric Kripke’s superhero satire series appears to be more popular than ever before.

According to The Wrap, Season 4 of The Boys has amassed over 55 million viewers since its premiere in June. This figure represents a 20% increase in viewership compared to the previous season.

The show’s popularity seems to have a global reach, with 60% of its audience coming from outside the US. Some of the key markets for The Boys include the UK, Brazil, India, Germany, Canada, Spain, Italy, Mexico, and France.

Remarkably, the show has reached the No. 1 spot on Prime Video in more than 170 countries and has become the fourth most-watched series on Amazon’s platform. However, it still trails behind popular series from other streaming services like Netflix’s Bridgerton and CBS’ Your Honor, which also streams on Netflix.

For now, The Boys is expected to conclude with its fifth season, which is anticipated to premiere in 2026. Vernon Sanders, head of Amazon MGM Studios TV, shared insights with The Wrap regarding the series’ ending:

“This is all about [creator] Eric Kripke. We’ve had this incredible success because of his vision and execution, and he’s told us for a while that he believes this really should be a five-season series. Of course, we asked him, ‘Are you really sure it can’t go on for more?’ And he gave it some thought but came back to his original vision for this, so we want to honour that… Similarly, if there’s more to this universe, which we would love, that’s ultimately going to be about him leading the path there.”

The franchise has expanded with two spinoffs: an animated anthology show called The Boys Presents: Diabolical, and a series named Gen V, which focuses on the super-powered students of Godolkin University, a training ground for young supers before they step into the big leagues.

Reports suggest another potential spinoff series, tentatively titled The Boys: Mexico, with Diego Luna and Gael Garcia Bernal attached as producers. No significant updates have been released regarding this project, though it is noteworthy that Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer, the writer behind DC’s Blue Beetle film, is involved in the development of the series.

Rumors also hint at the possibility of yet another spinoff in the The Boys universe, although neither Amazon nor Eric Kripke has confirmed any details.

While no official release date has been set for Season 5 of The Boys, fans can anticipate its arrival sometime in 2026. In the meantime, they can catch up on the complete fourth season on Amazon Prime Video.
