O’Donnell was diagnosed with lymphoma — a type of blood cancer — in September 2023. He admitted to ignoring his symptoms for a while before seeing a doctor, which led to the discovery of the cancer.

Initially devastated, Roger now says he feels fine and has a great prognosis after undergoing multiple rounds of treatment.

Roger advises people to get tested early since prompt action improves the chances of beating cancer.

He also encourages fans to reach out to ill friends and family, noting that kind words can make a tremendous difference for those struggling with their health. He expressed gratitude to his loved ones and medical professionals who supported him through the process.

Roger was on tour with The Cure from May to September of last year. It seems he received his diagnosis shortly after the tour ended. He joined the group back in 1987 and has played with them across multiple stints over the years.

The Cure doesn’t have any upcoming concert dates. It’s unclear if O’Donnell will be ready to join the band when they schedule their next show.
