Eric Cowell made his entrance into the world on Valentine’s Day in 2014. Simon Cowell, his father, shared the joyous news on X, formerly known as Twitter. “Very happy to say Eric was born at 17.45pm,” Simon tweeted then, mentioning that his son was “healthy and handsome.”

Eric is the son of Simon Cowell and his now-fiancée, Lauren Silverman. The couple started dating around 2013. The former “American Idol” judge was thrilled to become a father. Shortly after the birth, he told Extra, “I was born to be a dad!” Simon rushed from London to New York City just in time to welcome his son after receiving a call from Silverman while he was filming “Britain’s Got Talent.” He made it to the delivery room just two hours before Eric was born, witnessing the special moment.

Eric is named after Simon’s late father, to whom the talent judge was incredibly close before his father passed away from a heart attack in 1999. “I look at him, Eric, and I think of my dad all the time, so it’s a really good thing,” Simon shared. Fortunately for Lauren and Simon, Eric didn’t pose many challenges as a newborn. Simon humorously shared, “Lauren’s actually been crying more than Eric, so I’ve had to put one of those pacifiers in her which she likes!” He added, “She has to be fed every three hours; otherwise, she gets a little bit grumpy, and Eric’s absolutely fine!”
