‘The Inbetweeners’ Star Joe Thomas Hints at Third Movie in Las Vegas

The boys might be heading back out on tour, as “The Inbetweeners” star Joe Thomas has hinted at a possible reunion for a third movie with co-stars James Buckley (Jay), Simon Bird (Will), and Blake Harrison (Neil). Appearing on the “Always Be Comedy” podcast, Thomas revealed that the idea of another film has been discussed in various forms, and all of the actors feel it would be a nice project to take on.

“We’re all still around, we’re all still in each other’s lives. We all still like each other. And if it was something that came up, I think we would want to do it,” Thomas shared.

According to Thomas, a new movie would be feasible with the right concept, whereas making another series would be more challenging because of the time that has passed. “A movie works with the right idea. It would be challenging to do another series, just because of the timeline. But with the film, there are all sorts of options,” he added.

He suggested that a stag do (bachelor party) setting could be an ideal scenario for the boys to reunite, mentioning Las Vegas as a potential location. He believes a reunion movie should revolve around men navigating the complex adult world, contrasting it with the simpler times of adolescence they depicted earlier.

“It would need to be about blokes, I think,” Thomas explained. “And there’s something about the adult world and how much more complicated it is than the world of adolescence.” He further emphasized that a film provides a special occasion with a storyline and an ending, differentiating it from the open-ended nature of a sitcom, which is more like casually hanging out with a funny friend.

“The Inbetweeners” phenomenon began as a TV series on Channel 4’s E4 and successfully transitioned to the big screen in 2011 with the first film produced by Film4. The original movie grossed a remarkable $88.9 million worldwide, while its 2014 sequel brought in $63.9 million.

Created by Iain Morris and Damon Beesley, the story of four sex-obsessed adolescents quickly became a fan favorite. The series and movies have been produced under their own production company, Bwark Productions.
