‘The Next Chapter’ Removed From CW Fall Schedule

“The Librarians: The Next Chapter” is no longer scheduled to air on The CW this fall.

The series was initially set to premiere on October 24, following “Superman & Lois.” Instead, The CW has announced that the docuseries “The Wranglers” will occupy the 9 p.m. timeslot on that date. As of now, no new premiere date has been set for “The Librarians: The Next Chapter.”

This series is a spinoff of the TNT series “The Librarians,” which itself was a continuation of the “Librarian” TNT film series starring Noah Wyle. The new show was first announced by The CW in 2023.

Like the original series and films, the show revolves around the custodians of the mythical Library, a storage place for powerful and dangerous artifacts.

“The Next Chapter” features a cast that includes Callum McGowan, Jessica Green, Olivia Morris, and Bluey Robinson.

According to the official description, the new series focuses on Vikram (played by McGowan), a Librarian from the past who time-traveled to the present and now finds himself stuck. Upon his return to his castle, now a museum, he accidentally releases magic across the continent. Tasked with forming a new team of Librarians, Vikram sets out to clean up the chaos he has unleashed.

Dean Devlin serves as the showrunner and executive producer, with Marc Roskin and Rachel Olschan-Wilson of Electric Entertainment sharing executive producer duties. Noah Wyle also continues his involvement as an executive producer. Additional producers include Mark Franco of Electric Entertainment and Jonathan English of Balkanic Media.
