The Royal Family Owns a $150,000 Piece of Jewelry — Here’s the Heir

The royal family possesses jewelry worth more money than most people can imagine. Among these treasures, the Queen Mother’s $150,000 tiara now belongs to a special member of the family.

The British royal family is famous for several things: their philanthropic efforts, their lengthy history in shaping British culture, and their immense wealth. With a total worth of $88 billion, their assets include a stunning array of exceedingly valuable jewelry.

When Queen Elizabeth II ascended to the throne, she inherited numerous high-end jewelry pieces. Her mother, the Queen Mother, also had an opulent collection. One of her most precious items is a brooch originally crafted from a tiara, valued at over $150,000. But the question remains: where is this brooch today?

Princess Anne, the only daughter of the late Queen Elizabeth II, inherited the Queen Mother’s most expensive brooch. She is the sister of King Charles, Prince Andrew, and Prince Edward, making it unsurprising that she received some exceptionally valuable jewelry from both her mother and grandmother. Other royals, such as Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle, have also been gifted heirlooms from within the family, but Anne holds a brooch worth an astounding $154,000.

On her wedding day in 1973, Princess Anne received a special tiara from her grandmother, the Queen Mother, which she wore during the ceremony. Known as the Aquamarine Pineflower tiara, it was designed by Cartier, a brand well-loved by the royals. Anne cherished the piece, but instead of keeping it as a tiara, she had the precious stones removed and reassembled into a brooch. This new piece included aquamarine and diamond stones from the original tiara. Although Anne generally keeps the brooch reserved for special occasions, she was spotted wearing it in 2014 and again in 2019.

Like other women in the royal family, Princess Anne boasts an impressive collection of high-value jewelry. Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle have often been seen wearing priceless jewels that once belonged to Queen Elizabeth II or their late mother-in-law, Princess Diana. However, Anne’s collection holds a special allure, likely because she was the Queen Mother’s only granddaughter and Queen Elizabeth’s sole daughter.

“Her collection not only showcases her exquisite taste but also reflects the deep significance she places on her royal responsibilities,” jeweler Maxwell Stone once said of Anne’s collection. While the exact worth of the royal family’s extensive jewelry collection remains unknown, estimates range from $1.2 billion to $5.8 billion.
