‘The Shining’ Twins Look Unrecognizable 44 Years Later

It has been 44 years since Lisa and Louise Burns played the Grady twins in Stanley Kubrick’s iconic horror film, “The Shining.” Fast forward to today, and they look significantly different. The now 55-year-olds recently shared a photo on their joint Instagram page, posing with police officers in the UK.

The sisters coordinated their outfits—one wore a gray coat paired with a powdery pink scarf, while the other opted for a black coat and lilac scarf. Both kept their graying hair short, presenting a stark contrast to the eerie little girls fans remember from the 1980 film.

Fans were delighted to see the Burns twins, as they last appeared on Instagram in December. One fan expressed their gratitude, commenting, “Thank you for sharing yourselves with us and thank you for being so PERFECT in the movie.” Another fan added, “You two are awesome.”

Some fans made playful references to their infamous roles, joking about inviting them to play with Danny, the character played by Danny Lloyd. One comment humorously read, “I love that these fine officers took pics with you two such an iconic duo, one could even say shiny, I’ll show myself out.”

After their memorable roles in “The Shining,” Lisa and Louise stepped away from the limelight to pursue their own career paths. Lisa now works as a lawyer, and Louise is successful in her role as a scientist. Reflecting on their movie roles, they recalled feeling normal while portraying the unsettling characters, noting that it simply felt like they were wearing dainty dresses.

While they lead mostly private lives, the Burns twins occasionally step into the public eye. In 2022, they were seen paying tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II during her lying-in-state.
