The Simpsons to Release New Christmas Special on Disney+

The Simpsons will release a new Christmas special exclusively on Disney+ later this year. The Simpsons first began its broadcast run with the premiere of the episode, “Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire,” on Fox on December 17, 1989. Although it wasn’t originally intended as the series’ premiere, it ended up launching the animated sitcom into extraordinary popularity, which fans still enjoy today. The series is currently in the works to return to Fox this Fall with Season 36, bringing a wave of new episodes full of wacky adventures.

Celebrating the 35 years since its premiere, the team behind The Simpsons plans a special new episode to bring it all full circle. Announced during the D23 celebration this past weekend, The Simpsons will release a special Christmas episode titled “O C’mon All Ye Faithful” on December 17th to commemorate 35 years of the series. This will be a double-length episode, exclusively streaming on Disney+, making it an intriguing new release for the beloved sitcom.

Disney+ will also receive two more exclusive episodes throughout the year, titled “The Past and the Furious” and “Yellow Planet.” However, release dates for these episodes have not yet been announced. In addition, a new Halloween-themed short by The Simpsons is set to premiere on the streaming service sometime in October. Season 35 of the series will also be available for streaming starting October 2. If you want to catch up beforehand, the first 34 seasons of the series and The Simpsons Movie are currently available on Disney+.

The Simpsons Season 36 is scheduled to kick off its broadcast on Fox starting Sunday, September 8th. The long-running animated series has been summarized as follows: “This beloved animated comedy tells the story of the Simpson family and the residents of the typical American town of Springfield. Homer Simpson works at the local nuclear plant and does his best to lead his family, but often finds that they are leading him. Living with Homer at 742 Evergreen Terrace are the loving, blue-haired matriarch Marge, troublemaking son Bart, overachieving daughter Lisa, and pacifier-sucking baby Maggie.”

Fans can look forward to a continuation of the hilarious and heartwarming stories that have kept them entertained for decades. The upcoming episodes and specials on Disney+ promise to add even more excitement to this long-standing series. Whether you’re a longtime fan or a newcomer, now is the perfect time to immerse yourself in the world of The Simpsons.
