On August 25, UPI reported that beloved children’s music group, The Wiggles, announced the launch of their new podcast titled Wiggle Talk: A Podcast for Parents. The podcast is set to premiere on Monday and will be available on popular platforms such as Apple, Spotify, iHeartRadio, Amazon Music, and YouTube Music.
This new venture sees Simon Pryce, the Red Wiggle, and Lachy Gillespie, the Purple Wiggle, stepping into podcast hosting roles to discuss various parenting topics. The first episode delves into managing tantrums.
Occasionally joining them on the podcast is The Wiggles founder and Blue Wiggle, Anthony Field. Field, who recently spoke with UPI about The Wiggles’ 100th album and the group’s updated lineup, will be making guest appearances on select episodes.
Field praised Pryce’s baritone voice, noting how it effectively teaches children opera-style music in an engaging manner. He also credited Gillespie, an accomplished songwriter, for infusing influences from The Beatles and Elton John into their songs.
In addition to the core hosts, Wiggle Talk will feature various guests outside The Wiggles universe. Notable contributors include Maggie Dent, Terri Irwin, Ms. Rachel, Hugh van Cuylenburg, Dr. Shefali, Gen Muir, Dr. Justin Coulson, Jocelyn Manzanarez, and Dr. Tovah Klein.
” Wiggle Talk is our way of opening up about the real challenges and joys of parenting,” Pryce said in a statement. He added that although they are adept at entertaining and educating children, many aspects of parenting are still new to them.
Pryce has a young son, Asher, who is 3 1/2 years old. Gillespie is a father to twins Lulu and Lottie, who are about to turn 4, and also has an 8-year-old stepson, Jasper, who will soon celebrate his 9th birthday.
“As fathers, we know firsthand how overwhelming parenting can be,” Gillespie explained. He emphasized that they want Wiggle Talk to serve as a space where parents can not only find practical tips but also a sense of community and reassurance, along with plenty of shared laughter.
