These Celebs Reportedly Eager to Produce Taylor Swift’s Directorial Debut

Taylor Swift fans have eagerly been following news of her Hollywood directorial debut. The talented singer-songwriter, who has already directed several of her music videos and short films, is set to make her first foray into feature films. The project is shrouded in mystery, but it is known that Swift has written the script and will direct the film in collaboration with Disney. Production is expected to begin after her Eras tour concludes on Dec 8, 2024.

Recently, it has been reported that a competition is brewing in Hollywood over who will produce this highly anticipated film. The contenders? None other than Blake Lively and Reese Witherspoon. Insiders revealed to Life and Style Magazine that both actresses are vying for the coveted role of producing Swift’s directorial debut.

“This is not a drill: Taylor is gearing up to make her Hollywood directorial debut and the plan is for it to happen later this year. She is writing the script but officially, there is no real producer on the movie yet,” an insider shared. “Blake Lively and Reese Witherspoon both want this job and both of them have deep ties to Taylor. It’s going to come down to who Taylor thinks can make her dreams of becoming a Hollywood auteur come true more fully.”

Swift and Lively share a close personal friendship; Lively is even the godmother of Swift’s children. Witherspoon’s connection to Swift is more understated, but equally significant. For instance, Swift wrote an original song for the Witherspoon-produced film “Where the Crawdads Sing.”

Choosing between Lively and Witherspoon as a producer presents a dilemma for Swift. Lively has a budding producing career with credits including “It Ends With Us” and the upcoming mystery “The Husband’s Secret.”

On the other hand, Witherspoon has nearly 50 producing credits to her name, including such hits as “Gone Girl” and the aforementioned “Where the Crawdads Sing.”

“Taylor is close personally to Blake but Blake is still working to find her voice as a producer,” the insider noted. “Meanwhile, Reese is far more experienced at producing movies and even scored a win for Taylor with their unexpectedly successful collab on ‘Where The Crawdads Sing.’”

The decision on who will produce Swift’s directorial debut remains up in the air, leaving fans and industry insiders eagerly awaiting the final choice. Regardless of the outcome, there’s no doubt that Swift’s move into directing will be a significant moment in her multifaceted career.

While we all wait for an official announcement, anticipation continues to build around what is sure to be a landmark project.
