Three Storms Brewing in the Ocean Could Impact the U.S.

The National Hurricane Center is tracking three separate tropical waves with potential to develop into storms National Hurricane Center

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) is monitoring three tropical waves that could potentially affect the United States. These waves are currently located in the Caribbean Sea, Atlantic Ocean, and Gulf of Mexico.

If these systems develop into storms, Florida and Texas are the areas most likely to be impacted. Reports indicate that at least two of the waves have the potential to evolve into tropical depressions.

One tropical wave located off Texas’s coast is not expected to intensify into a tropical depression, storm, or hurricane. However, residents along the coastline should prepare for heavy rainfall and the risk of flash flooding throughout the week due to this wave.

This particular wave currently has only a 10 percent chance of further development.

The second wave is positioned near the Lesser Antilles islands in the Caribbean Sea and continues to generate showers and thunderstorms. Its chances of developing into a more significant system stand at 40 percent, a figure that has remained consistent over the past several days.

The NHC indicates that this system is likely to move westward across the Caribbean Sea through Tuesday, accompanied by strong winds and significant rainfall. While no considerable development is expected until then, conditions could evolve as the system shifts into the central and western regions of the Caribbean Sea.

There is a possibility that it could strengthen into a tropical depression by the second week of September.

The third wave, currently situated off the western coast of Africa, has garnered the highest likelihood of developing into a storm. As of Monday morning, the NHC raised the probability of this occurrence to 40 percent. This wave is also producing its own showers and thunderstorms.

The NHC stated, “Environmental conditions are forecast to gradually become more favorable for development, and a tropical depression could form in a few days while the disturbance moves slowly west-northwestward or northwestward over the eastern tropical Atlantic Ocean.”
