Throwback Photos Showing David Bromstad Ageless on HGTV

On August 17, 2024, HGTV star David Bromstad shared a carousel of photos on Instagram, celebrating his 51st birthday. Seated on his countertop and smiling, Bromstad captioned the post, “This is 51” along with party-themed emojis. Many commenters remarked on how young he looked, with one person exclaiming, “HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!! You do not look a day over 30! I hope you have an amazing day filled with love.”

David Bromstad’s transformation over the years seems almost magical. Photos shared by Bromstad on social media reveal that he has hardly aged. A striking comparison can be seen in a group of snapshots from 2014 shared on Facebook, where Bromstad’s face looks nearly identical to his 51st birthday photoshoot. The main changes over the years include growing out his facial hair and getting many tattoos, which he has often talked about on social media and in interviews.

On Instagram in 2013, David Bromstad shared a throwback photo from his school days. The “HGTV Design Star” winner captioned the image, “Who doesn’t love a High School photo? Wayzata Swim Team 1989! #ThrowbackThursday.” The young Bromstad was smiling by a pool, a smile that remains unchanged today.

In another older photograph shared on Facebook in 2017, Bromstad displayed the same grin. His hair was longer back then compared to his 2024 look, but still largely the same brunette shade of his youth, with just a few gray strands. Bromstad captioned this image, “Throwing it back to my Senior Year of High School!”

Bromstad even shared a baby photo on Instagram for his 46th birthday in 2019, noting the physical changes that come with aging. “Getting old is such a blessing but def comes with some more aches and pains. #amiright?” Bromstad wrote. However, he hasn’t let these changes stop him from staying in shape.

David Bromstad places great importance on health and fitness. In January 2015, he shared a selfie from the gym on Facebook, expressing his love for morning workouts. By August 2018, The Gym Jax Facebook page featured a video of Bromstad in a vigorous exercise class. “It’s always fun when David Bromstad @bromco is in town and makes us his number one stop to get his workouts in!” they wrote, also plugging his HGTV show, “My Lottery Dream Home.”

In January 2019, Bromstad participated in the “#howdidagehityouchallenge” on Instagram, posting a side-by-side comparison of himself in 2009 and 2019. Despite the slightly longer hair, facial hair, and numerous new tattoos, Bromstad looked just as fit — if not more — than he did a decade ago. His caption, however, focused on the broader changes in his life over the decade.

Reflecting on the social media challenge, Bromstad wrote, “Looking back at me 10 years ago and seeing the man I was and the man I’ve become makes [me] reflect on all the crazy, wonderful, painful, happy and sad memories that lead me to who I am now. Wouldn’t change a moment of it. [You] can’t live in the light if [you] never experienced the dark times.”
