Timothée Chalamet Stars as Young Bob Dylan in A COMPLETE UNKNOWN Trailer

Just like every song must begin with a single note, every legendary artist’s story must begin with someone discovering their talent. That’s the tale director James Mangold aims to tell with “A Complete Unknown.” The first trailer for the movie introduces Timothée Chalamet as a young Bob Dylan, capturing the moment he stands on the edge of stardom.

This trailer strongly hints at one certainty: regardless of how the film turns out, its soundtrack will undoubtedly be remarkable. But there’s more to the movie than just great music and a fantastic wig budget. It’s a narrative about a young artist rising from obscurity to global fame, along with everything that comes with that journey.

Set in the influential New York music scene of the early 60s, “A Complete Unknown” follows 19-year-old Minnesota musician Bob Dylan’s meteoric rise as a folk singer to concert halls and the top of the charts. His songs and mystique became a worldwide sensation, culminating in his groundbreaking electric rock and roll performance at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965.

But Bob Dylan isn’t the only famous figure portrayed by a big Hollywood star in the film. “A Complete Unknown” also features Elle Fanning as Sylvie Russo—Dylan’s love interest during this period—alongside Edward Norton as Pete Seeger, Monica Barbaro as Joan Baez, Boyd Holbrook as Johnny Cash, Scoot McNairy as Woody Guthrie, Norbert Leo Butz as Alan Lomax, and Dan Fogler as manager Albert Grossman.

Two-time Oscar nominee Jay Cocks, known for works like “The Age of Innocence” and “Gangs of New York”, co-wrote the script with Mangold. Yet, one piece of the puzzle remains missing: the exact release date. Searchlight Pictures promises that it will arrive in theaters “soon.”

“A Complete Unknown” promises to be a captivating watch, not just for fans of Bob Dylan, but for anyone who appreciates the journey of an artist rising to fame. From its rich cast to its promising storyline, the film is shaping up to be both an auditory and visual treat.
