T-Boz has experienced the ups and downs of touring for over 30 years. The TLC singer, who is also a spokeswoman for Glad, Scents that Take You Back, has no shortage of wild stories from her time on the road.

While she treasures the dedicated fans of the girl group, known as the TLC Army, T-Boz, aged 54, has encountered some surprising items thrown her way during performances.

“I’ve had bras, panties, and car keys thrown at me,” she shares exclusively in the latest issue of Us Weekly. “I threw the car keys back. Like, ‘Girl, you almost hit me in the face. Don’t scratch my moneymaker!’”

In recent years, many musicians have voiced concerns about the perils of objects being tossed at performers.

For instance, when SZA was performing in Australia in April, she threatened to end her show when fans began throwing cell phones and shoes on stage.

“I will leave,” she declared while holding up an item that nearly hit her. “Do not throw up any cell phones. I’m a person. That’s crazy.”

Last year, Bebe Rexha sustained a black eye and required stitches after a fan hurled a phone at her face during a concert in New York City.

Despite the hazards of live performances and occasional close calls with fans, T-Boz feels a strong bond with the TLC Army.

“They’re always in the front row, and I’ve known them since they were, like, 10 years old. I’ve seen them have kids,” she says.

T-Boz cherishes her interactions with fans and fondly recalls their unique gifts and gestures.

Among her favorite fan gifts is an autograph from Nick Castle, the actor who played the first Michael Myers in Halloween.

“I love Michael Myers. A fan gave me Nick Castle’s autograph, and I was like, ‘Shut the front door.’ I’ve been watching this since I was 8 years old. I’m 54 now. That shows you how invested I am in this film,” she explains.

The TLC Army doesn’t just give her great gifts, but also thoughtful presents for her kids, such as iPad cases and personalized pillowcases, allowing her to feel connected with her family while on tour.

When it comes to performing live, T-Boz has recently developed a new favorite song to play: “Case of the Fake People” from CrazySexyCool.

“It’s weird because it wasn’t a single. It’s like, part 2 of ‘What About Your Friends.’ I’ve been really loving that song recently, but I just enjoy being up there performing. Everyone laughs because I don’t have a favorite song. I just love to perform. Period,” she says.

As for her preshow routine, T-Boz prefers a quiet environment.

“I’m easy-breezy. I don’t like a lot of noise. I have to run everything through my head, so I like to be quiet, and I don’t like to talk,” she notes.

T-Boz’s ideal afterparty is a high-energy event filled with dancing, preferably a throwback to the 90s nightclub scene when people could just show up in casual attire and lose themselves in the music.

She admits she also enjoys hosting afterparties at home, dancing in her living room with friends to keep the energy high.
