Tony Yayo Thanks Drake for ‘Free Yayo’ Shirt Deal with Spencer’s

Tony Yayo recently sat down with DJ Vlad to share an interesting update following a high-profile shoutout from none other than Drake. According to Yayo, the day after Drake posted a selfie wearing a “Free Yayo” shirt, he received a call from the popular retail chain Spencer’s Gifts.

“Once Drake wore the shirt, I got the call the next day. ‘Spencer’s wants to do a deal with you,’” Yayo explained. He mentioned that these shirts will soon be available at every Spencer’s store worldwide. Manufacturing of the shirts will be handled by Crooks & Castles.

Drake’s selfie wearing the “Free Yayo” shirt came after Yayo voiced his thoughts about the ongoing beef between rap heavyweights Drake and Kendrick Lamar in another interview with Vlad. “I think the battle is not over,” Yayo remarked. “Drake is Drake, Kendrick is Kendrick. They’re both two of the biggest artists in the world. … We can say what we wanna say, all Drake gotta do is… Every time we count Drake out he comes back with a f—ing hit, that’s all I’m sayin’. All he gotta do is come back with No. 1 record. The kids are gonna be dancin’ just like they are to ‘Not Like Us.’”

The “Free Yayo” shirt first gained widespread attention when Eminem sported it during the 45th Grammy Awards, showing his support for G-Unit member Tony Yayo. At the time, Yayo was incarcerated for jumping bail connected to a New Year’s Eve arrest in 2002. Although he was paroled in January 2004, Yayo was re-arrested the day after his release for possessing a forged passport. He was subsequently released again a month later in February.
