Top 7 Packing Hacks from TikTok

Packing for a trip, whether for business or pleasure, can often be tricky. Thankfully, the internet—especially TikTok—is full of useful packing hacks. On the social media platform, the hashtag #luggagepackinghacks has over 60 million views, with videos ranging from aesthetic ASMRs to helpful tips and tricks.

Here are some of the best travel packing tips and hacks we found on TikTok.

TikToker @caitlin_jaymes, who often shares packing and styling tips, explains that rewearing the same items in the daytime and nighttime and styling them in different ways will make packing easier. She also recommends preparing your outfits in advance, depending on the events you have planned for the trip, and taking photos of the full outfits so that they’re ready to go.

Can 10 pieces of clothing equal 15-plus outfits? TikToker @kerifay thinks so! Essentially, this trick follows the concept of a capsule wardrobe; just make sure to pack mostly basics that can be mixed and matched and worn in different ways throughout your trip. This is particularly suitable for people who love a more minimal style.

Similar to the capsule wardrobe concept, the “333 method” consists of picking three items from each clothing category (tops, bottoms, and shoes) and combining them in different ways. In a video with over one million views, TikToker @gemtalbot puts together 14 different outfits using the 333 method. When traveling, you may want to tweak this a bit to include more tops, as well as consider washing some clothes depending on the duration of your trip.

This video shows a great hack for parents traveling with their babies. Instead of packing your toddler’s clothes in a suitcase or bag, you put each full outfit in the slip pocket of a shoe organizer. Each pocket is clear, so you can see the outfits and pick them out easily and quickly.

TikToker @christierobsham shares a helpful tip to make traveling much easier: keep your packing cubes in a bag with your luggage. She recommends one large cube for outfits, one large cube for pajamas, one medium cube for swimwear, and two small cubes for socks and underwear. She also packs all her skincare products in a hanging toiletry bag.

TikToker @jackiecamardo says for a summer trip to Italy, you should opt for a carry-on instead of a big suitcase and pick some matching linen (or cotton) sets over athleisure. Also, don’t bring your hair tools to Europe, as they won’t work (and may break down) unless they are dual-voltage.

TikToker @mama_mila_ shows how to roll up your clothes to make them as small as possible. Rolling the clothes versus folding them is said to be best when it comes to preventing wrinkles. Check out her video to see how to fold a T-shirt, jeans, and dress.
